SG-1000 is a home video game console made by Sega and released in Japan in July 1983. It is the first console produced by Sega and was created to compete with Nintendo's Famicom (NES).
The SG-1000 had hardware that was similar to the ColecoVision, but it had a compact design and was compatible with cartridges made for the earlier SC-3000. It was sold in Japan and a few other countries, but it failed to make a significant impact in the video game market.
The console had a library of about 80 games, including popular titles like Zaxxon, Congo Bongo, and Flicky. The SG-1000 also had some accessories available, such as a joystick and a light gun.
Despite its lack of commercial success, the SG-1000 paved the way for Sega's future consoles like the Sega Master System and the Sega Genesis.
